This is an SR400 that was exhibited unpainted at the 2023 NEWORDER Chopper Show, went on a 3100km tour of Hokkaido as it was, then had its finishing paint done and was exhibited at the 2023 Yokohama HOTROD CUSTOM SHOW.

This vehicle was not made to order for a customer, but was made for the 2%ER store owner in a hardtail specification. It not only has the looks of a 70’s long fork chopper,

We focused on ride comfort and handling, and created a position that is easy to ride without being intimidated by the look, from city riding to long touring,

We made it with a proper handling level that anyone can ride.

 

The rear brake is a “SR400/500 Rear Disc Kit” that is under development and also serves as a product test, with two calipers for the right hand brake,

The right foot brake is used separately for each system, which makes the front area around the chopper, which does not have a brake on the front wheel, clean.

The hand brake operates the master cylinder installed at the rear of the engine crankcase with the drum brake wire,

It is a safe specification that you can feel safe even when stopping on a slope or driving at low speed.

 

Although it is a vehicle that was exhibited at the largest custom show in Japan, it is not positioned as a show bike, but is finished as a practical custom vehicle that can run firmly.

Considering the later vehicle inspection, the hardtail kit and rear disc kit are bolt-on designs. The rear can be changed to a swingarm/rear shock specification with bolts/nuts.


●【Trail Value

When a 30-inch (about 75cm) over long fork, custom-made by a certain overseas manufacturer, is installed as is, it becomes extremely heavy, and the handling, which becomes like cutting off with a bang just by turning the handle a little,

The trail value is set to about 8cm, which is appropriate, with a 5° rake triple tree made one-off. The handling is set to be neutral, almost the same as the original SR.

It is designed to be easily driven with one hand.

 

Also, by making the front wheel a small diameter of 17 inches, the change rate of the contact point between the tire and the ground when the handle is turned is suppressed.

With these two points, you can easily drive without the handle cutting in at intersections in the city at low speeds and when stopped.

●【Center of Gravity of the Vehicle

By bending the ○ part more than the usual “rigid line” bolt-on hardtail kit,

The position (center of gravity) of the engine and crankshaft, which are the heaviest in the vehicle, is aimed at the limit where it does not scrape the ground when the vehicle is tilted in a curve,

The center of gravity of the entire vehicle is lowered as much as possible by bending it as much as possible.

By bringing the center of gravity closer to the straight line of the front and rear axles, the wobbling during driving is prevented and stabilized.

Also, with the appropriate trail value and the extended wheelbase due to the long fork,

It provides outstanding stability, especially on bypasses and highways.

●【Brakes

Double caliper brakes. By changing the lever ratio of the hand brake and foot brake,

It is set to about 4:6. It is finished to be easy to ride by setting the braking to be rear-oriented, which is suitable for choppers.


Welding Method for Gasoline Tank/Main Frame

Molding/Painting

The bond work of the gasoline tank and the entire vehicle body is done by Kyoto’s “P.H.K“, and the painting is done by “BACON“. A psychedelic pattern layered many times. It was finished in a purple-based paint.

〇5° rake triple tree for a neutral handling setting similar to the original SR. The under bracket, which is heavily loaded due to the long fork, is a safe design that uses steel material twice as thick as usual and clamps with two 10mm bolts. It is a one-off item that has been narrowed by 2cm.

Speedometer

◆Electric Speedometer

〇The electric meter set in front of the left gasoline tank operates according to the rotation pulse of the rear wheel.


CenterTank, oil tank, seat, step, muffler etc.

● The under-seat frame has been modified to connect directly to the “Rigid Line” bolt-on hardtail kit at the rear.

We have cut the original frame that grows in parallel, and rebuilt it with thick steel pipes, focusing on strength, durability, maintainability, and ease of passing vehicle inspection.

The gasoline tank is integrated with the frame, and other panels are added for a molding finish.

The engine is overhauled as it is normal, and the appearance is adjusted with cerakote and chrome plating, and the fun of running is added by changing to the FCR carburetor.

〇A gasoline tank that has been moderately shaped and integrated with the frame. The base was formed with sheet metal, and the bond work was done by Kyoto’s “P.H.K“, and the paint was finished by “BACON“.

Muffler

〇This is a full exhaust muffler with a torque cone that we developed in-house built into the mouthpiece. It is made at an angle that suits any style, such as a normal frame or hardtail.


Engine

◆Genuine 400 Engine

〇A 400 engine that has been properly overhauled to remain genuine without deliberately tuning for everyday use. The cylinder area is cerakoted, and the left and right covers, engine hanger, oil line, etc. are finished with chrome plating.


Carburetor

〇Your slow SR will be dramatically transformed. It’s a carburetor that’s easy to handle with sharp and smooth acceleration.

〇This is a set of an aluminum funnel to replace the red plastic one, and a stainless steel trash prevention net.

〇A one-off seat that was actually straddled and shaped to fit the physique of the 2%ER store owner, with urethane stacked. Since it supports the weight with a high surface area, I was tireless even on a 3100km tour.


Electrical Equipment

〇All electrical components except the CDI are consolidated at the rear of the engine crankcase. It is easily accessible from either side of the vehicle and has good maintainability. There is no need to reassemble even if you return to the swing arm specification during vehicle inspection.

    〇For this vehicle, the 〇 part was significantly bent to match the long front fork, lowering the center of gravity of the vehicle and reducing wobbling during driving.
