This is the SR400 of our young staff member, Kiyono. He contacted us via Instagram DM saying, “I want to work at 2%ER,” and despite our initial refusals, his persistence and enthusiasm won us over and he came to work for us all the way from Yamagata Prefecture. His inherent guts and initiative have the power to draw people in, and he enjoys planning night runs with other young staff members at 2%ER and local youths, having fun with customers in the area, working at the 2%ER factory even after hours and on regular holidays, touching his own bike and other young staff members’ vehicles, and going on long tours. He is fully immersed in the bike life both at work and in his private life. He is a rare type among today’s youth who can invest time in himself, and we look forward to his future growth.
The style is a long fork specification with a normal frame typical of 2%ER. The limited early model chrome tank is borrowed from the 2%ER owner, and is installed slightly raised at the front to match the 35cm long fork. The drilled mid-high step and fork outer spring kit are used as prototypes, and the dead stock high back seat is modified from a Harley and installed.
The SR400, which was originally purchased by mail order when he was living in Yamagata Prefecture and transported by land, was in a very dangerous condition. The top speed was 70km/h, similar to a scooter, and the rear fender came off during driving and got tangled in the rear tire, causing it to lock, the muffler stay broke, the seat rail and rear shock mount positions were significantly different on the left and right, the gas tank cracked, the wiring shorted and caught fire, etc., making it almost irreparable.
Once he had learned a certain amount of work after a certain period of employment, the 2%ER owner returned the twisted frame to normal, and Kiyono himself used used parts from the store front and worked diligently after hours and on regular holidays to assemble the bike, which is now in excellent condition.
As can be seen from the worn muffler, he is also particular about running, and the small diameter front tire, FCR carburetor, mid-high step, etc. are in line with 2%ER’s manners.
The unique muffler and sissy bar plate were made by Kiyono himself by trial and error. We haven’t taught him metalworking yet, and you can see some rough parts here and there, but we will teach him processing in the future and he will change again, so we will upload his best vehicle with a normal frame at this point to this custom gallery.
