#239 SR400Custom Report
This is a bike that the owner of 2%ER shop built for himself, based on the SR400 style that he admired and was shocked by when he was young. With a 74 Springer, 16 inches front and rear, it’s extremely low and has a riding position that seems to crawl on the ground. This style is hard to categorize, but it’s something I wanted to try building at least once! I spent a little bit of time after hours and on my days off over about two years to finish this SR400.
The distinctive rear plunger suspension is by “GREASE MOTORCYCLE” in Nisshin City, Aichi Prefecture. We were able to get a certified inspection by collaborating on a trial basis. (We won’t be able to accept general installations for a while)
The pinstripes that are subtly placed in various places were done by “JERK GARAGE“.

【Front Fork】
“74 Springer Fork Kit SR400/500“
◯ The brake panel is set to smoothly sink when braking due to the floating processing and improved attachment angle of the torque rod.

【Front Wheel】
◯The wheel is customized to 16 inches with special spokes, and both the hub/rim are finished with a semi-gloss black powder coat.
【Headlight】
“7 inch Lucas Type Headlight Case Black“
〇A headlight case with an old English Lucas design. It is mounted low with a light stay made of stainless steel in a one-off production.
“Lucas torch headlight lens H4“
〇This is a reproduction of a vintage Lucas torch headlight with a modern H4 bulb.
【Handle/Handle Area】
◯The handle is a 1-inch diameter pipe that has been hand-bent and welded to the top tee.
◯I’m using a simple custom throttle for Harley, and a modified clutch lever that was used in vintage Harley army models as a brake lever.
◯The left switch is embedded. It’s a jockey shift without a clutch lever, so it’s finished clean and simple. The grip is wrapped with a leather tape.
〇It is newly installed by welding to the lower part of the stem, which is inconspicuous and easy to operate.

• Used the front half of the mainframe, and the rear was changed to a straight rigid line connected to the plunger of “GREASE MOTORCYCLE“.
The gasoline tank is a one-off item that has significantly narrowed the original width, and “JERK GARAGE” added a pinstripe that never gets boring.
【Step/Shift】
“Mid-High Jockey Shift Kit/Parkarize”
〇This is a jockey shift kit that maintains the comfortable riding posture of the mid-high step, with a focus on operation feel such as touch and stroke. Some modifications were made to the jockey shift that is usually sold to add design.
【Muffler】
“One-off pipe production exhaust flange set for SR“
〇This is a right-side up muffler that was custom-made using a convenient manufacturing kit for the base mouthpiece. A special structure “low-pass baffle” is built into the inner part.
【Kick Pedal】
◯It is installed in a position that can serve as a heat shield.
【Carburetor】
◯The carburetor I chose was a leftover CR38φ that was lying around the shop. At 2%ER, we recommend the ‘FCR carburetor 39φ SR400/500 single unit‘.
【Electrical Equipment】

〇All electrical components except for the CDI are consolidated at the rear of the engine crankcase. It is easily accessible from either side of the vehicle and has good maintainability. There is no need to reassemble even if you revert to the swing arm specification during vehicle inspection.
“IC blinker relay wide range specification“
〇A wide-range turn signal relay that can be used without any problems with LED turn signals. It supports 1 to 150 watts and can also be used as a replacement for the original relay.
〇This is a battery-less kit that we manufacture in Japan.
【Engine Area】
〇This is a filter kit needed when removing the original air cleaner.
【Seat】
◯The seat is a one-off genuine leather solo saddle seat mounted with a 2-inch spring.

RearFenders, rear shocks, swingarms, etc.
• The biggest feature of this vehicle, the Plunger Suspension. The plate supporting the rear wheel slides up and down to absorb shocks, an old mechanism adopted by foreign cars such as Indian, BSA, BMW, Triumph, etc. around the 1950s, and Meguro in Japan. This time, we have obtained official inspection by collaborating with Grease Motorcycle, who is developing this mechanism originally.
