#171 SR400Custom Report

A 60-70’s style chopper SR400 built using the “Rigid Line” bolt-on hardtail kit (long type). The front area has been extended by 25cm for a long fork, and the rear area has been extended by 13cm for a wheelbase, with a 16-inch rear wheel, etc., to match the physique of the tall owner over 180cm tall, and it was built to be as large as a large displacement vehicle.

The exterior is a one-off coffin tank, a simple drag pipe muffler, a fat bob fender that is not used much these days, a simple and trendy sissy bar design, a cat’s eye tail, etc., while being a standard, it is slightly off the trend, and the overall atmosphere and balance were prioritized in the finish.

The riding position, which greatly affects the ride comfort, was carefully discussed and decided with the highest priority on ride comfort. The mid-forward control kit allows for a relaxed position with effective bracing, and the seat is a cobra seat with a 3-inch spring for cushioning. The drag bar is slightly raised by the riser, making it a comfortable setting that is not cramped and easy to ride even for tall owners.

The deep, mature exterior paint was done by “BACON“.

• A long fork typical of a chopper, 25cm longer than the original. By selecting slim, small-diameter grooved tires, the heaviness of handling during long fork is reduced, and a simple one-off front fender that matches the style at a good length has been set.

〇A simple drag pipe made one-off using a convenient manufacturing kit for the mouthpiece at the root. The design was made with a more belly-up, bad-ass chopper feel by pointing the end downwards.

Step/Shift

Mid Forward Control Kit by Paralyze for SR400/500

〇A step kit that allows you to ride comfortably with a relaxed knee bend, even if you are tall. Combined with a spring seat, it provides a comfortable ride that you wouldn’t expect from a rigid frame without rear shocks. (Approximately 120mm forward and 20mm down compared to the standard forward step)


Seat

“One-off Cobra Seat”

The 3-inch spring under the seat base is mounted at a carefully designed position considering the angle of input, the position of the lever, and the owner’s weight. It has good cushioning properties.


Electrical Equipment

〇All electrical components except the CDI are consolidated at the rear of the engine crankcase. It is easily accessible from either side of the vehicle and has good maintainability. There is no need to reassemble even if you return to the swing arm specification during vehicle inspection.

Kick Pedal

Gasoline Tank Installation

◯ A one-off coffin tank made from a single sheet of iron. To avoid problems such as internal rust and cracks due to the aging of the iron plate, we created a new one from the vintage model of the time. It is safely installed with a three-point rubber mount.

Welding nut non-through M8 2p

〇Drill a hole in the gasoline tank body and insert and weld. It is non-penetrating, so it does not leak. Used on both sides.

Weld tab M size 4.5mm thickness 2p

〇Enlarge the hole diameter and change to a rubber mount specification to hold the non-penetrating nut. Used on both sides.

Weld tab L size 4.5mm thick steel 2p

〇Used for the rear installation of the gas tank. This also enlarges the hole diameter and uses it with a rubber mount.

    〇As the name suggests, this is a detachable hardtail kit using bolts/nuts. It remodels the seat rail of the original frame to make it a rigid line. You can revert to the swing arm/rear shock specification when inspecting the vehicle or changing the style. This extension process ensures a wider seating area, making it easier to distribute your weight and making riding more comfortable.

    Around the Rear Fender

    ◯ The rear area is often finished slim in this style. In this SR400, we dared to use a large Fat Bob fender and a Cat’s Eye tail lamp. We finished it with a traditional and unsophisticated mainstream design, combined with a not too stubborn one-off sissy bar design.
