#168 W650Custom Report

This is a custom W650 brought in by a customer. Without making major changes to the frame and legs, we focused on the exterior and paint, and tire selection.

We created this with the theme of the custom style based on British cars that the delinquents raced on unpaved roads in America in the 60s.

The up-handle and headlight are original parts that we launched in accordance with the manners of the 60s.

We finished it by combining bolt-on parts and one-off parts, such as modifying and attaching universal parts like seats and mufflers.

While the modern W650 is the base, the way each part is made follows the 60s custom, and we have made it so that the atmosphere of that time comes out.

With a neutral vehicle configuration, easy handling, a position that doesn’t cause fatigue,

This is a custom that you can enjoy from waiting to long touring with a sissy bar where you can load luggage.

The aging process applied to the entire vehicle was requested from 〇 “BACON“, and they added a vintage atmosphere to the entire current W with a moderate worn-out feeling without overdoing it.

Custom List

FrontHandlebars, F forks, headlights, etc.

The handle is the original 〇 “Upriser Bar Handle“. It was created by taking measurements from the 60s vintage. The controls and switches have been changed to smaller and simpler ones, and the area around the handle has been neatly finished.

The headlight is also a 60’s style, 〇 “Old Bates Type Side Mount Light Kit“.

The front fender is a one-off production. Based on the design of a Triumph that was chopped at the time, it was made with a steel center rib fender and stainless stays.

The tires are military design DEKA. It’s 3.50-19 inches.

The new product is 〇 “VELONA Electric Speedometer“. Because of its thin and small design, it is not conspicuous and does not disrupt the style.

The turn signal is the standard 〇 “Small Bullet Turn Signal Chrome 4pcs SET General Purpose“. It was mounted unobtrusively on the front side of the tank.

CenterTank, oil tank, seat, step, muffler etc.

The gasoline tank is a Bonneville style using 〇 “Triumph tank (fabrication material)“. It was safely installed with a 4-point rubber mount. It has an atmosphere as if it has been used for many years due to the aging paint by BACON.

The muffler is a rough B-class style of the time. We bent the exhaust pipe by hand and attached a dead stock bell tip.

Due to the shape of the frame, the seat area is difficult to process. Balancing budget constraints and the owner’s preferences, we only cut the base bridge of the normal seat that spans the middle and the upper side of the electrical tray, and installed 〇 “Narrow Type Bates Replica Solo Seat/Pillion Pad Set in Black” so that it does not float and connects well.

The side cover has been stripped of its original paint and chrome-plated, and further aged. We aimed for an atmosphere like a clumsy oil tank of a British bike.

  • RearFenders, rear shocks, swingarms, etc.

I have slightly lowered the rear shock so as not to lower it too much because of this style. I installed a vintage-looking 〇 “Half Cover for Classical Rear Shock W400/W650/W800“.

The sissy bar is one-off. I made it at a convenient height and width, keeping the design of the time as it is.

I used a sturdy replica for the rear fender, it’s a “5-Inch Custom Rib Fender – Steel Material“. I have modified the fender mount on the frame side and installed it.

The tail that matches is the classic 〇 “Lucas tail lamp with pedestal Japanese standard number size“. The turn signal is also a classic “Small Bullet Turn Signal Chrome 4pcs SET General Purpose“.

I used a replica of the old Pirelli MT53 for the rear tire.
