#131 XS650Custom Report

This XS650 was originally created as an “Old Racer Style” and based on the “#75 XS650 Custom“, with additional customizations.

The owner’s only requests were “bad” and “camp touring”.

Changes include the addition of handlebar risers, a headlight, a rear fender with a sissy bar, and a paint job.

From the original racer style, we aimed to create the atmosphere of the transitional period from bobbers to choppers in the late 1960s with minimal effort.

The overall atmosphere is rough, with the welding burn left intact and finished with aging processing.

Custom List

FrontHandlebars, F forks, headlights, etc.

Front Fork

◯A front fork that has been modified and repurposed from Harley’s 74 Springer. The fork is set to sink smoothly even when braking with a Grimeca caliper due to the change in linkage position.

Front Wheel

◯The front wheel is 19 inches. I wanted to create a mix-and-match atmosphere, so I made the front and rear wheels different colors.

Headlight

◯We installed a flat, small, and round headlight with a custom-made light stay.

Handle

◯ The one-off handle with visible welding marks is assembled after aging processing. The mirror is a large vintage replica.

Flanders Replica Riser/2.5 Inch

◯ A Flanders replica riser with a good height of 2.5 inches.

Switch

“Mini Turn Signal Switch Coupler On Kit (’85~00)”

〇Easy to install mini turn signal switch with coupler on

(Different year models, installed with modifications on small headlights)

Speedometer

Mechanical Speedometer 60mm Black Panel 1:4

CenterTank, oil tank, seat, step, muffler etc.

• I usually outsource the aging paint to “BACON“, but at the strong request of the owner, I, a builder who is not good at painting, was allowed to paint freely while being taught by BACON. I tried to create a rough and cool impression with a rough black base with a mix of glossy and non-glossy finishes, and a graphic that overlays a matching color as a one-point accent.

Muffler

◯The exhaust pipe, which closely follows the frame and engine, is custom-made from stainless steel. It is designed so that you can change the oil without removing it. The silencer is a dead stock trumpet. It is a long bell specification.

Step

◯The one-off mid-high step is finished in parkerizing. It was built to be simple yet flavorful.

Seat

◯The seat is a downsized KR type seat pan. Thanks to the rear shock and seat springs, it’s comfortable even without a sponge.

Welding nut non-through M8 2p

〇Used by welding to the frame side as a seat spring receiver.

Seat Rail

◯The frame under the seat is smartly drop-processed. The joints are made with a plug-in lug finish to give it a classical atmosphere.

【Air Cleaner】

◯The air cleaner box visible under the seat is modified and reused from XS650E.

Electrical Equipment

Custom Ignition Switch Weld On Kit General Purpose

  • RearFenders, rear shocks, swingarms, etc.

•I was also entrusted with the paint job of the rear fender. I deliberately applied aging to a white base, a different color from the gas tank, and to keep it subtle, I added a graphic on the left side as a single point of emphasis.

    Rear Shock

    “280mm G-Suspension/Chrome”

〇A rear shock that lowers by about 4cm. It moves well among low-down suspensions.

    Rear Wheel

◯The rear wheel is an 18-inch chrome rim. The tire is Allstate.

    Rear Fender

◯The fender is a staple of custom vehicles such as 60’s choppers/bobbers, and is made by modifying a 20’s FORD spare tire cover. Although it’s a rare fender, it’s weak due to its thinness like tin and aging deterioration, so we’ve put quite a large reinforcement on the back side to withstand the slight vibrations of domestic vehicles and the weight of sissy bars and camping equipment.

    Sissy Bar

◯The sissy bar was a one-off and left to our discretion. We deliberately did not do any surface treatments such as plating, and finished it roughly.
