#194 SR400Custom Report
This is a genuine chopper style with a narrow springer fork, custom frame, and rear hardtail.
After a previous custom SR fell over, I fully customized it to look “bad” while repairing various parts.
【№86 SR400 This is how it looked before】
The style has changed from the previous “Chopped Scrambler” to a British B-class long fork chopper style. I barely touched the BSA-style frame that I had worked on so that it could always be returned to its previous state, and installed a bolt-on hardtail kit with a rough atmosphere as if it was forcibly attached, and incorporated a newly made exterior.
A narrow springer for Harley is installed on the front. To achieve proper handling, the trail value, which is an indicator of motorcycle handling, is adjusted by remaking the bottom rocker. It is set for safe and straightforward handling that you wouldn’t expect from a long fork.
The vintage GME coffin tank, rib fender, etc. are painted with an atmospheric aging paint by “BACON“, giving the whole a bad and rough image.
It was made as a vehicle that is not tiring and stress-free according to the owner’s riding style and physique, who rides a bike daily and travels quite a distance, such as a light tour around Japan, on long tours.
The vehicle configuration is such that you can ride comfortably and enjoyably with the cushioning of the 3-inch seat spring, which is incomparable to the short rear shock, the mid-high step that can distribute body weight, and the well-moving fork spring, which you can’t imagine from this appearance.

【Front Fork Area】
◯The front fork is a narrow springer made by MC Peckers. It was originally made for Harley and was modified for installation. The bottom rocker was made to match the neck angle and wheel diameter, and it is set to neutral handling by making the trail width appropriate.
◯The wheel is a repurposed 18-inch one for Virago 250.
【Front Tire】
〇A street tire with a vertical groove design. It helps to lighten the handling that tends to become heavy when the fork is lengthened. It is a small diameter and round 3.00 size.
【Headlight】

〇A headlight that fits well with the SR’s vehicle size and fork width, and can be installed without any discomfort. Mounted with a one-off light stay.
【Handle/Handle Area】

• The gasoline tank is a meticulously repaired vintage GME coffin tank, securely mounted with a 3-point rubber mount. The scratched aging paint is by “BACON“.

【Carburetor】

〇The slow SR will drastically change. It’s a carburetor that is easy to handle with sharp and smooth acceleration and good startability.
〇It is a dedicated adapter to firmly fix the FCR carburetor to the SR400/500.

【Seat】
“Narrow Type Bates Replica Solo Seat/Pillion Pad Set in Black“
〇A narrow solo/pillion pad with a flat base. Despite being made of vinyl leather, it’s a seat with a good atmosphere. It is installed with a 3-inch seat spring to match the frame shape. It is a rigid specification without rear shocks, but it has good cushioning due to the highly responsive spring.

【Electrical Equipment】
◯The box under the seat is a modified and installed Royal Enfield one, the left is an electrical equipment box, and the right is used as a storage for rain gear and tools.
◯ The seat subframe was previously modified to a BSA type. I was considering whether to cut it and rebuild it into a straight rigid line with a hardtail kit, but the owner who had traveled a considerable distance around Japan in its previous form had a strong attachment to its pre-customized state, so after consultation, we decided to leave it unmodified so that it could be returned to its original state at any time. The hardtail kit, which seems to have been forcibly assembled because the lines did not match, has a rough and tumble atmosphere reminiscent of the choppers of the time.

【Hardtail】
『“Rigid Line” Bolt-On Hardtail Kit』
〇As the name suggests, it is a detachable hardtail kit using bolts/nuts. It is assembled by changing the angle of the regular hardtail kit to match the frame shape. It remodels the seat rail of the original frame to make it a rigid line. You can return to the swing arm/rear shock specification when inspecting the vehicle or changing the style.
